Over the past five weeks, a group of 23 men and women from RANG’s West Poplar footprint, and from other low-to-moderate income neighborhoods across the City of Philadelphia, attended an 80-hour challenging skilled trades pre-apprenticeship training program at JEV’s/Orleans Technical College. Following their graduation from Orleans on May 16,these apprentice candidates were invited to a job fair attended by many ABC members who are long-standing Post Brothers subcontractors and/or have been engaged to work on Post’s latest project, The Poplar. The desired outcome was the recruitment of the aforementioned 23 construction apprentice candidates by these contractors who would then sponsor their apprentice through an accredited four-year apprentice training program like ABC’s program.
