Insurance coverage is as essential as having qualified labor and equipment to perform a construction project. Sometimes this insurance is offered through Owner Controlled or Contractor Controlled insurance Programs. These can provide benefits but also anticipated risks for program participants. This course will discuss the mechanic’s of these programs, how they are managed, and what legal risks they do and do not cover. This course will also examine the growing use of Subcontractor Default Insurance as an alternative to bonding projects. SDI can provide an important avenue of recovery when enrolled subcontractors default, while also creating broader opportunities for non-bondable subcontractors to participate in larger projects.
