This interactive session, designed for members of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Eastern Pennsylvania, provides a practical overview of contractor financial statements and the key metrics that drive business decisions in the construction industry. Attendees will gain actionable insights on how to interpret financial reports, identify potential issues early, and apply industry benchmarks to strengthen both project performance and overall company results.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the purpose and key components of contractor financial statements as they relate to construction operations.
  2. Use core financial ratios and industry benchmarks to quickly evaluate a contractor’s financial health.
  3. Recognize common financial warning signs, including underbillings, overbillings, and profit fade, and understand their impact on performance and risk, including how sureties use this information to make decisions.
  4. Apply basic analytical techniques, including backlog evaluation and gain/fade analysis, to support stronger project and company-level decision making.
