DESCRIPTION:**THIS IS A SMOKE-FREE FACILITY** \nConstruction Quality Management for Contractors is a certification course sponsored by USACE and NAVFAC. This certification is usually a contract requirement and is an integral component of quality management on Federal government construction projects. \nUSACE in coordination with NAVFAC developed the course that was given the formal title of Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors. \nWhile there is no prerequisite for the class\, students should have a general knowledge of construction processes and Federal construction contracts. \nClass is conducted in one day using the USACE Student Study Guide (provided by the sponsor or facilitator) with a pre and post-test. The class is conducted in person\, utilizing actual examples to stimulate discussion among students. Students are encouraged to ask questions and bring up relevant construction topics. \nFacilitators provided by Building Constructive Solutions are authorized by NAVFAC MIDLANT to deliver the course and issue certificates for candidates who meet the criteria specified by USACE and NAVFAC. \nBuilding Constructive Solutions is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business.  BCS is currently a licensed Class A contractor in the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as licensed to provide Professional Engineering services. \nUpon passing the post test\, each student will be provided with an official certificate which is valid for five years. \nLunch will be provided for all attendees

DESCRIPTION:This class will help the student to develop the necessary fundamental knowledge of the procedures\, materials\, equipment\, and practices needed when estimating for any trade discipline and/or type of construction. The class will also provide the fundamental knowledge of construction materials & processes that utilize these materials. One trade discipline and material category\, process and system is covered each week. These materials and processes are normally encountered by the student in the workplace. \nThis class provides a starting point for developing the mathematical skills necessary through practice and application to the construction trade. Calculations and quantities of volumes and areas will include trades such as concrete\, masonry and carpentry as well as others. \nThe class will provide hands-on detailed estimating procedures in which students learn how to estimate the general conditions of a construction project\, site work\, excavation\, concrete and masonry as well as other trade disciplines. This course also features hands-on estimating and quantity take off activities associated with Metals\, Wood\, Doors and Windows and Finishes as well as other types of materials. \n  \nThis Class will run every Thursday Evening beginning on September 26\, 2023 – November 21\, 2023 (Taking Halloween Off)
