SUMMARY:Construction Project Scheduling
DESCRIPTION:This course will introduce students to critical path method (CPM) and other scheduling techniques. The CPM schedule is a valuable tool for determining what project issues impact the project completion.\n\n\nThis course will teach how to properly document and present time extension requests and delay claims in addition to covering detailed baseline schedules for acceptance as per contract requirements\, reviewing and analyzing Contractor Monthly CPM updates\, providing schedule analysis reports (SAR) and preparing time impact analysis (TIA). \nThe class will also cover Arrow Diagramming Method (ADM) and Precedence Diagramming Method (PDM)\, development of baseline schedules\, work breakdown structures (WBS)\, project resources and resource leveling\, resource and cost loaded baseline schedules\, schedule updating\, date\, constraints\, logical relationship\, activity duration estimating and contractor narrative report as per contract scheduling specifications and contract requirements. \nFollowing the successful completion of this course\, you will be able to: \n\nDefine the Critical Path Method\nKnow the importance of the Longest Path and Float in scheduling\nUnderstand the guidelines for developing a Baseline Schedule\nKnow the common mistakes in performing schedule updates\nKnow the difference between a recovery schedule and acceleration\nBe able to perform a schedule delay analysis\nDifferentiate the three major types of delays\nIdentify as well as remedy to prevent the financial damages associated with the different types of delays\n\nInstructor: Joseph R. Hellenbrand (Capital Project Management\, Inc.) –   Joseph Hellenbrand is an Schedule Engineer at Capital Project Management\, Inc. Mr. Hellenbrand has more than 25 years of experience in construction and project management\, planning\, scheduling\, engineering\, and claims analysis\, in the private and public sectors. He is knowledgeable in critical path method (CPM) scheduling\, damages assessment\, project controls\, site logistics and construction from project initiation to completion. \nRyan Clark has more than ten years of experience in planning\, scheduling\, construction\, manufacturing\, project management\, and quality management.  He has analyzed delay\, disruption\, inefficiency claims\, and the evaluated damages by reviewing project documents\, schedules\, and costs.  He has worked for both public and private organizations on a multitude of projects and programs worldwide. His responsibilities include document review\, technical analysis\, and preparation of fully exhibited reports to support construction management\, delay claims and litigation. He is knowledgeable in forensic CPM scheduling analysis\, issue analysis\, project cost and efficiency evaluation\, project controls\, quality management\, site logistics and construction from project initiation to completion.
